The time to relax, plan for upcoming years and to enjoy the things you deserve. It is also the time to spend time in the projects you would not otherwise have time to work on. I am sure that like me, most of you reaching this post are looking to see if there are other webhosting providers you can rely on and move to or to check if the host you are with is still the best of one of the best. The efficient way to check up to see if your current host still provide the previously specified quality and hosting packages or to see if there’re other who has same quality but better deals, is to go to web hosting reviews and rating site. I would recommend Web Hosting Geeks, the reliable listing and reviews source to find hosting providers.

At Web Hosting Geeks, you can look at the top 10 hosting providers or do custom searches to fit your needs. For example, the top 10 will involve few or none listed about hosting providers providing windows hosting service. Then you can simply choose menu item like “Best Windows Hosting“. You can find budget hosting, blog hosting, forum hosting, unix, linux, windows hosting, php hosting, email hosting, ecommerce hosting, VPS, reseller, dedicated hosting and many more services and compare to see which one will best suit your needs. Remember, summer is the time you have some freedom, so it is also the good time to do server/host moving if necessary!!!

Now you would be wondering why I suggested Web Hosting Geek. Well, it is simply because at my blog, the talks go on and on if something deserve it (hence, “where the talks go!). Here, Web Hosting Geeks deserves to be mentioned due to their quality and customer friendly services. Also I am not promoting Web Hosting Geeks, the real customers of any hosting providers are by writing down their reviews about the hosts and sharing their experiences. Why don’t you visit Web Hosting Geeks and share your experiences about any hosts as well! If you want updates on hosting providers or read tips and guides to better your experiences and your server(s), refer to WHG’s blog as well.

Cheers!

Kaung Ko

Web Hosting Reviews & Ratings: Useful in Researching About Hosting Provider(s)

Hosting

host ratings

host reviews

user reviews

web hosting

web hosting geeks

web hosting ratings

web hosting report

web hosting reviews

["I found a cheap hosting!". A few days later, "My account's not setup yet or its deactivated for no reason!]

Above statements and sayings will be familiar to some of you who’ve dived into buying a hosting package without researching the credibility and reliability of the hosting provider. it is most of the times good to go for discount packages from reliable companies, but other than that, research is crucial. Keep in mind that customer support and all other features must be also put into consideration when choosing the right host. You can start the research at web hosting review sites, and the particular one I will recommend is Web Hosting Geeks.

Web Hosting Geeks give you access, free of charge, to budget hosting reviews, blog hosting reviews, forum hosting reviews, VPS hosting reviews, reseller hosting reviews, dedicated hosting reviews, green hosting and many other more! Unlike other web hosting reporting sites, Web Hosting Geeks let visitors like you submit rating and comments about the hosting providers, so other visitors and those in need of hosting can come across and evaluate; helping each other out is a good thing! Also bias reviews will be low that way because it is not the review site owner nor the hosting provider itself writing the reviews, but the customers all around the world giving reviews.

Web hosting reviews and rating sites like the one I’ve mentioned above provide user-friendly search of the hosting provider of interest or just to simply do research by searching by the name, features, bonus features and/or rating (how many stars). I am not sure with other review sites but at Web Hosting Geeks, you have many ways to limit your search to get the host that best suit your needs, including free domains, free ad credits, multiple domain hosting, etc…

So yes, do not forget to research about the hosting providers before committing to purchase, sometimes it is costly because you have to be in long term commitments. research at Web Hosting Geeks or the alike (if you can find other rating and review sites as good as them!).

Web Hosting Reports

Hosting

web host

web hosting

web hosting report

I am seeing more and more domain names being registered each year. But however it’s not the case. What important is choosing the host that can best provide your web site’s needs, and to avoid free or unreasonably cheap hosts when possible.

Paid hosting is unquestionably better than free ones. First of all you get more useful features and add-ons with paid hosting. Is you need site assistant or any type of support, they would be much much faster and available when you need it. Connections to the internet would be faster as well, so that your published site will appear quicker on the web. Also with good paid hosting there would be no need to display a banner on each of your web pages as in free ones, or you won’t get tricked into buying the cheap paid web hosting but after awhile the host starts posting ads without your permission or violating the terms.

Secondly you need to choose operating system. You will finding hosts providing Windows or Linux hosting. Since windows is well known and most widely used, people will think it’s easier to use windows and to troubleshoot. But if you do, you are wrong. Both hosting package option for you to choose your own control panel through which you can administer your site, configuring webmails and installing softwares and creating databases. According to the recent researches, it is believed that most major companies use Linux servers, and C-panel. It is because Linux Servers runs faster and are more secure than of windows. This is depending on how the operating systems are built. Windows include every possible function in the base package while Linux allows the host company to add only the functions they need.

Lastly you need to consider the list of features a host offers. If you don’t know much about html you can look for a host that supplies you with free website building software and some better ones will even provide free Domain names. The best thing is you should look at a number of different companies and compare what they offer as standard with their hosting plans. Technical features to consider are

the amount of disk space available to you
how much monthly bandwidth you have to use
how many email accounts you can have
Customer support features (if response time is more than an hour, find a new host)
if they offer a money back guarantee.

Look to see what additional services the host includes in the package for example do they offer daily backups? Make sure they provides servers that support PHP as this is the main programming language of choice for programmers.

So to be on safe side and to get the best host, when choosing a website host, look for a paid host with Linux hosting and then compare the packages on offer from a variety of companies.

By: Kaung | ChitChat247.com | KMKBlog.com

Win a FREE Website Package!

Contests

Hosting

Free

web host

web hosting

Website

This was going to be my paid review but then I was a novice with PPP’s user control system when I first wrote this days back. Keep in mind, this is a long guide so you may wish to go grab a cup of coffee or tea and maybe some cookies too!

How Should You Choose a Web Host?

Web hosting comes either for free or for a fee. As businesses become more and more dependent on the internet, their activities have to be efficiently handled by the most reliable and reputable web hosting company.

Before getting into any commitment, you should first make clear to yourself the specific requirements and at the same time consider the offers that any web hosting company offers to you. Among the many of them that seem to offer you the best of services, you should be able to choose and figure out the one who tells the truth and who just makes use of deceptive tricks.

Among the many considerations that you have to make, the three most important ones are database server software, scripting software, and operating system. Linux is known to be the major web hosting provider. Customers differ in their choice of additional services for their businesses. The wide range of choices that the market has today allows clients to tailor-made their web hosting preferences.

Once you have chosen one that suits your needs, make it a next step to find out if it has a web content management system (CMS). This is also very important so that you don’t have to seek the assistance of a web master or web designer every time you do minor revisions or faced with minor problems regarding your web hosting. Content management systems allow you to have a better control over your website design such as changing themes for your website and more.

Some Web Hosting Offers That Turn Out as Scams

Does it offer free web space?

You might be attracted to the 5 to 10 MB free web space that an ISP may offer. Of course this is beneficial to your business, but then you have to answer these questions. Is the free space enough for your needs? What else does it give you?

This 5 to 10 MB of free space may be sufficient for a small business (could be personal or something that doesn’t need to grow quickly). However, if your business has to grow rapidly, this free web space would be more of a limitation than an opportunity.

In addition to limiting your web space, find out if the web hosting company offers along with the web space some other services. Does it have a reliable and secure server? Does it provide enough bandwidth that would allow heavy traffic without extra cost? Does it have a back-up of your files? Does it allow you to install small programs? Is it compatible with Java script? Does it have e-mail forwarding or autoresponders? Does it provide 24/7 support service? Does it allow you to add pages to your site without too much labor?

How About Free Domain Names?

Another attractive offer that web hosting companies have is free domain names or subdomain names. Free subdomain names offer allows you to append your business name to their company without any charge. However, these are the downsides. First, it would be difficult to remember your URL because it is very long. Second, because of the many slashes in your URL, you lose a lot of page ranks. Third, granting that you need to have your own domain name because your business already needs to, you lose all your web traffic and you have to go back to zero.

And additionally, with free domains offer, if ever the company will allow you to transfer your domain name, it might provide erroneous information so your transfer may be delayed. In order to avoid the foregoing situations, make sure that when you decide to purchase a domain name, it is explicitly stated that it is your name or your company’s name that will be listed as the registrant or owner. Not having this will cause you to lose control over your domain name.

Is It a Template Wizard Web Host?

You may also be blinded by the opportunity given you to design your own website through the do-it-yourself strategies. Those with very limited knowledge in computers or web design might find this offer very advantageous, believing that they can really do it with the set of “simple” instructions that go with the template. Having been convinced, you will give it a try and later would find out that the simple instructions that they are giving actually need a professional web designer to understand the terminologies used.

Here is another problem. If you cannot go about it by yourself, the company will offer you“support” software, but this time you have to pay for it. You cannot turn back anymore because you have already committed yourself to their “services”, say for a year. The lesson is, you cannot simply rely on alleged simple instructions because you have no way of finding out how complicated it is until it gets to you.

Sooner or later you will have to give in to the offer. You will have to purchase their “support” package, often at a very exorbitant price. There are some that give help through their help desk which contain only generic information about HTML, and does not specifically answer the problems that you have.

It would be late for you to discover that they are already making money out of you through the extra services that they provide. At one time or another, you will have to seek for their services. What started out to be a cost cutting strategy on your part turns out to be a more expensive and tedious job.

Aside from the added cost, there are other problems associated with template wizard web hosting. There are lots of these softwares that are not compatible with the present HTML versions. More so, your keyword ranking would also be affected because their pages will not validate.

By now you would convince yourself to opt for a paid web hosting company. After all, it will end up to be more economical, because on the average, reputable web hosting companies cost around $9.00 monthly fee, as compared with the $30.00 for a free site that have hidden charges.

Be Weary of Kidnapping Domain Names

Some unscrupulous web hosting companies once discovered would still lobby, employing some more of the “better” things that they got to offer to you. They may threaten you to remain with them until your contract ends. It could also be that when you request for a transfer, they will transfer you to a site that they also own. The worst, they will just offer you to concede to redirect your site to your new host, but your domain still remains with them.

If you get into this situation, the best thing to do is to cut off your business with them. The above suggestions from their side prove that they have self-serving motives. They have less concern over your site, as long as they get what they want.

Bear in Mind that Web Design Templates are Not Yours

Hiding at the back of beautifully designed web pages and images, they try to blind you and will urge to use these in order to enhance your site. True enough, these pages served their purpose and these have become one of your “trademarks”. How about if when to decide to switch to a different host? No, they won’t allow you to take those designs with you. This leaves you your pages bare and “lifeless”. Eventually you will have to hire another designer in order to regain the grandeur of your “borrowed” templates.

Does it Offer Free Search Engine Submission?

Also remember that Google, Yahoo and MSN Search all come for free. So if the web hosting companies try to lure you with their promise to offer free search engine submissions from Alta Vista, AOL, Hotbot, Lycos, and Netscape, do not be fooled. All these engines are in themselves free because they are fed by Yahoo, Google, or MSN Search. Better yet, you do not even have to submit to search engines because they will automatically find your site.

Find Out if There is a Valid Contact Address of Phone

One of the proofs that the web hosting company is not a scam is having a physical address or a phone number. Try contacting these contact information in a weekend so you will find out if they are true to their 24/7 service availability. Send a message to their email address and see if they respond promptly and sufficiently answer your query. Companies that only have FAQ as support are not reliable because these are only generic answers and may not even be related to your specific problem.

Beware of Reseller Hosts

You could get into trouble if you happen to get a web host that does not really own one. What they do is buy a space from a host and having this space sold to you. You may be able to set up web hosting transactions without problems at first. Sooner or later, something will just prevent your “host” from going on with its service, leaving you with no one to ask help from.

Web Hosting By and Large

What you have just discovered are some possibilities where you would get scammed. Choosing a web host should not only be centered on being free. It is better to pay a certain cost upfront than to gamble on a web hosting site whose reputation is questionable.

By: Kaung | ChitChat247.com | KMKBlog.com

Proxy Hosting – Choose 500 Gb BW for $1 or Unlimited BW for $5

Hosting

proxy

proxy hosting

web host

web hosting

Well, while you’re at it making decision, why don’t you also go over and choose between long life for your proxy or short life, because both plans or similar plans offering drool-able amount of bandwidth for small are not just reasonable for a proxy hosting provider (Or shall I say for a legit, honest, caring provider). Understandable you wish to choose the lowest fee plan with greater resources limit but keep in mind, as long as you don’t see a pig flying, no one’s going to give a dedicate server for free to you for each proxy. “What the heck are you saying?” you may ask. Simply put, those larger resources are only available to you on dedicated servers, and never on shared hosting plans especially shared hosting providers for proxies. True, you need to save money and get the most profit out of it, but choosing such plans is just contradicting and halting your goals to have a successful proxy. if you can invest few dollars for hosting to gain back multiple of your investment, then proxies are not for you, and your proxies will never grow under you if you keep following the path of being frugal. Maybe, possible with other normal sites but not with proxies.

Why? Proxies uses resources. Most proxy hosting providers I know, they lure customers by showing the big “amazing” plans. “Oh yeah KMK keep bashing other proxy hosting providers”. Call me whatever you want, but either way, I am going to continue. They show you large plans and customers got attracted to those “lovely” plans without knowing what’s behind every marketing and what’s behind the provider’s mind. Without even reaching 3% of your shown bandwidth, your proxy will get shut down and your account will get terminated with no refunds. “You’re nuts, no they will not”. if you ask that, well you need much to learn about each proxy script and the load each causes on servers due to features or plugins embedded within the scripts. “Like you would know KMK”. I may not be catching up all the news going around me nor all the politics and technological advances, but I know for sure what is going on, the reasons and detailed info on my interests. If you don’t know yet, one of my interests and my projects is proxy business. I have been in proxy business for 4+ years and have come through many proxy scripts free or paid; cgi, proxono, zelune, glype, suffurogafier, phpproxy and many more. “Yeah me too, what’s so unique about it?” I have also experienced with most of the plugins and the server environments for proxies.

I will not be explaining the resource usages in detail because either you don’t even know what I just said since you are still busy searching for the sign up link for the “plans” stated in the title or you are willing to see what I have to say in the end. “Then don’t KMK. What makes you even think most proxy hosting providers are cheating off customers?” Well, it is simple, I also run my own public proxy hosting, and I have had up to date, 5 customers who left after their first month saying my plans are expensive and I give them too little resources. “Hah. Good with your attitude they would definitely leave! duh!” Thank you. But you should keep reading, those 5 customers moved on to different proxy providers and ALL 5 come back to me claiming and admitting they made a mistake and that their new hosting provider shut down their accounts with no refunds and to reinstate them to my server. And let me tell you about my attitude on those situations; I did not charge them reinstatement fee, and even give them their “misfortune” month hosting free of charge. “Bulls***, you will not do that KMK”. Well I will, I did and will always do because not only I discourage overselling and luring customers with false advertisement types, I am not a company nor work for a hosting copany so all rules are by me. Better yet, I don’t do for profit. The servers I am hosting my customers on are prepaid out of my pocket (well from the earnings from my other businesses), and I provide plans with rates which will payoff each server itself and will only use less than 90% of the server resources.

Enough about my experiences and let’s get back on real track. I can guarantee that as long as you keep falling for such “great offers”, you will not find a stable host and you will have to move around hosting a lot and your proxies will have difficulties in growing. try even using 0.5-1% of the cpu on your current proxy shared hosting provider, you will most likely get kicked out or warned. Also keep in mind the “baiters” have servers not optimized for proxies so the situation will be worst; while you can use x amount worry-free on proxy optimized servers, using even x amount can give you red flag from providers with servers as is and not optimized. Most don’t even bother to tweak or optimize and their ultimate goal is to gain money and profit as much as they can.

In order to avoid losing money to hosting and advertising due to hosting problems, and to avoid losing visitors who would have helped you gain $xx/month or more, think before you buy a proxy hosting plan. Be reasonable. An average dedicated server with 2000 GB BW cost about $99/month, so don’t expect guaranteed resources of large package providers. A meidum sized proxy alone with several plugins and video sites viewing enabled can increase your cpu, and that can use up the whole server; remember no hosting providers would love to give a server for your own for $1 or even 90% of server fee.

“Am I blind or you didn’t really advertise your hosting site in this post?” Like I said, I am not a hosting company and I dont advertise every time I can. Customers will come by via words of mouth and referrals from existing customers. Plus, I already have enough to pay off the existing servers customers are on. And like 90% of you proxy hosters would actually choose my hosting plans, and mostly leave after you see the prices.

By: Kaung | ChitChat247.com | KMKBlog.com
