[Podcast] Elements of a Landing Page
Podcast: Play in new window
There is no fix number of variables when it comes to landing pages. However, there are some elements that can be considered as the most important components of successful landing pages. Given below are elements that should be kept in mind while designing a landing page.
Customer’s Knowledge
Understanding your target audience is the basis of any online or offline business. You should be clear about the actions that you want your visitors to take. There should not be any confusion about the ultimate goal of your landing page.
Visibility
All the important details which help in establishing customer trust such as contact information (e-mail, phone, chat, etc) should be easily visible to the customer.
Layout
Consistent layout and design is an important factor. Visitors browsing other pages on your website should be able to access the contact points and primary navigation from the same area which they saw on the landing page.
Price and Delivery
The price of a product should be presented clearly to the visitor. It should also be easily accessible to the user and if your website caters to international customers then international pricing or calculation should also be shown with the product.
Adding the time that it will take you to deliver the product is also a good idea. For example, writing “Delivery within 5 days” is a positive statement for customers. The “Add to Cart Button” should be close to the product and the information about your product return policy should also be clearly presented.
Another important thing is that the security seals should be working and be placed prominently enough to assure the customer that it’s safe to buy a product from your website.
The customer should also be able to print a copy of your landing page with all the important details such as price, contact information, customer reviews, etc.
Products
The products that you display on your landing page should be related to the theme of your website. A collection of different products on the same page may put customers off. Also, a good option that you can give to customers is the shopping cart “save for later” option. The representation of the product should be clear and appealing.
Describing the product in the right manner is important as well. Product description should be detailed enough to keep the visitor’s interest in the product alive. The product details should be presented very clearly so that the customer gets to know everything about it. You should have a section for customer product reviews. If you offer products that have similar features then there should be a section in your landing page that provides a comparison between these products. This will help the customer to decide which product he wants to choose.
On the whole, your landing page should be well organized with all the important page elements present in their proper places.
