Call Waiting on iPhone
Call waiting is not unique to the iPhone and has been available to general mobile phone users for years. This facility is, however, a feature of the iPhone a user may make use of. With the Call Waiting feature the iPhone user will be alerted of an incoming phone call while he/she is currently busy on a call.
On the iPhone, the user may simply click on the Flash key, which will automatically answer the second incoming call and placing the first call on hold. This is a great facility on every mobile device, which will allow a user not to miss any important incoming calls.
Many mobile users do not make use of the Call Waiting facility, as this is seen to be rude towards the callers. However, at times a user might be waiting for an important call and be interrupted by another less important call. This facility will notify the iPhone user of the incoming call while being busy in a conversation.
Incoming call options
Upon receiving an incoming call, the screen displays the name or number of the caller. The following options are offered on the screen of the iPhone:
Ignore
Choosing this option will divert the call immediately to voicemail. The initial caller will have no indication of what had occurred.
Hold Call + Answer
This option will answer the second incoming call and automatically place the initial call on hold. It will be appropriate of the iPhone user to inform the initial caller that he/she will be placed on hold.
From here the iPhone user may connect between the callers as he/she wish or merge all callers in a conference call.
End Call + Answer
By tapping this option the iPhone user will terminate the initial call automatically and answer the new incoming call.
Can Call Waiting be Turned Off?
The iPhone user may turn off the call waiting facility. By doing this all incoming calls, when busy, will be diverted to voicemail.
