Ways Internet Has Benefited My Academic Life
Many new advanced technologies are still invented each day. Out of all the inventions, the one invention that had, is and will still benefit me is the internet, the virtual resourceful, informative second world. It has helped me in writing and submitting the quality research paper, better and faster communication with my instructors, and lastly finding scholarships to aid me for better education.
Back in the days, when I don’t have internet where I come from, researching for facts to write a paper is very time consuming; going through all the books, “trying” to find the information I need in indexes, searching for the right resources, and sometimes I wasn’t able to find what I want! But with internet, not only I can get the information I need; just by a single search or click, I am also able to check the credibility of the contents; via domain extensions or approved certificates on the site(s). With almost, more than enough contents gathered, I can write a quality research paper and also have learned the importance of citations/crediting the authors.
Many times, I have planned to discuss with my instructors on certain topics, and most times I have failed to do so either because I forgot or at home when I remember, and because of the instructors’ tight schedules. But with internet, I feel like I’m still connected with them wherever I am. I can and I always do email them expressing my ideas on topics, asking for my grades and opinions on how to improve them, and so forth. Did I forget my question in class? No problem! I can message them once my question pops up again! That is how easier my life has been with internet.
Lastly, the value of internet has become priceless to me with the ability to search for scholarships and financial aids. Since we are a low income family, I am worried that I will not be able to go to college and fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor. But everybody in my environment encourages me by telling me that there are so many financial aid and scholarships opportunity online, where companies and organizations are willing to pay for the students with hopes. Applying for FAFSA has never been easier and faster to me electronically applying in contests found in fastweb, collegeboard, and many places has been faster and safer than via postal mail.
With the invaluable resources found on internet and internet itself, I have not yet become the best but on my way to become the student who can write acing research papers, my dreams of continuing college are rebuilt with the wide range opportunities to receive scholarships, and I am able to get faster communication chances with my instructors!!
