Pornography and Why Porn Stars Should Change to Legit Jobs
Porn stars should realize that they are God’s children and that Jesus loves them just as He loves everyone. If they could find a support group to guide them out of their situation, definitely they will turn to legit jobs and lead Christian lives.
We are all aware that pornography continues to destroy the unit structure of our society. Be that as it may, we still remain ignorant of its extent and even refuse to accept the need to control the effects of this plague.
It used to be that even the government believed that exposure to pornography has nothing to do with subsequent behavior. It was only at a later time after the appearance and proliferation of different types of pornographic materials that its effects were accepted as real and devastating.
How Do Porn Stars Fit in These Situations?
Porn stars, whether by choice or by circumstances, have to examine their lives and how they contribute to the ill effects of their business. However, to many of them, it has become a natural part of their lives that they have already become desensitized about its psychological and social effects, much more about its Biblical perspective.
Research results show that people who have brief exposures to violent forms of pornography can develop anti-social attitudes and behavior. Men tend to become more aggressive to women, and not affected to rape as a criminal offense. People who are continuously exposed to pornography develop a craving for more and more of these things.
Another research found out that there is correlation between deviant behavior and pornography. Situations of conflict, suffering and sexual dissatisfaction have also been correlated with it.
Police records in a U.S. state were analyzed and it showed that more than 40% of sexual assault cases in a span of 23 years have been connected with viewing pornographic materials prior to or during the crime. A psychotherapist also found that almost one-half of rapists used pornography to arouse themselves immediately prior to seeking out a victim.
The social dimension of the effects of pornography shares a divided ground. One group defends it as having a therapeutic effect on society, while the other would say that it does not have any social effect at all.
Now here comes the Biblical perspective. Sex has been misused and abused when sin entered the world. Sexual intercourse is supposed to be reserved only for marriage, and that premarital and extramarital sex is condemned. The presence and availability of pornography trigger the sexual desire to be directed to the wrong channel and therefore results to different forms of perversion.
The so-called sexually oriented jobs such as those of porn stars have encouraged unlawful sexual activities, spread STDs, created social problems of different sorts, increased crime in the neighborhood, and downgraded the quality of life of people.
As human beings, porn stars should change to legitimate jobs. Having known the effects of their present job on their own lives and the lives of other people, they should decide to have a turnaround. At present there are church and civic organizations that extend help to porn stars who want to get out of the industry through legal aid, job-skills training and living expenses. What is more important is the help extended with respect to their struggling or even devastated faith and porn addiction.
